Intrinsically Safe
Radios for use in the explosive environments of oil and gas installations, such as tankers or drilling platforms, or in gas-laden atmospheres encountered by the emergency services must be designed and constructed to be totally safe. Compliance with the ATEX Directive is now a legal requirement in all European Union Member States. Only portable radios type approved to the ATEX Directive are regarded as intrinsically safe in EU/EFTA countries. Note: This also applies to mobile offshore units, and seagoing vessels that weigh less than 500 gross tonnes.

Submersible
The unique and advanced HT900 Series conforms to all aspects of the European ATEX Directive. It further exceeds the requirements of ATEX by being completely submersible - all other radios in this class are merely splash proof. Entel believes that nonsubmersible radios have no place in the harsh world of maritime and terrestrial high-risk environments.
