Client Case Study: University of Dundee
The client is the University of Dundee, one of Scotland’s leading Universities.
Why Did They Approach Scottish Communications Group?
The University of Dundee approached us as they required a phased campus-wide upgrade of the existing CCTV system. Their existing setup had a number of disparate systems across the campus that utilised multiple recording locations, and they wanted to amalgamate everything into one single front end recording and monitoring system.
After conducting a thorough site survey, we presented our solution to the client team and conducted a demonstration of the suggested technology. Key challenges we overcame with our solution were:
- Use of Existing Equipment – In order to maximise the value for money, we were able to use much of their existing equipment and encode them onto the new IP platform.
- Use of Existing IT Network– The client specified the need for the new system to run to a very high standard using the existing network infrastructure. We accomplished this by working closely with their IT team to ensure that installation went smoothly and that high performance made no negative impact on the IT infrastructure.
We successfully developed a new IP CCTV setup for the client that used a number of the existing cameras. The image quality of the new cameras far exceeded the client’s expectations, and they now have a centralised recording and monitoring location. The client is currently looking to expand the system, which will be very easy to do within our flexible system.
