Police praise new Body Worn system
Monday 2nd February 2009

Great interest shown in Body Worn CCTV system
Great interest was shown in the Body Worn CCTV system at the annual conference and exhibition of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) last summer.
SCS Security Design was present at the event in Liverpool to show police forces from around the country the immense benefits the new system provides. Managing Director Paul Gibson said: “The system was well received by police forces at the conference, and the interest was so strong that we have since been busy providing demonstrations around the country of the Body Worn equipment in operation.”
The system comprises a camera unit that is small enough to be worn by a police officer on their body armour or jackets, and is also available as a head-mounted option. It is linked to a small portable digital video recorder, with recording management software. It creates a unique way of equipping officers with modern technology to obtain high quality primary evidence, which will assist in the investigation of crime and presentation of cases in court.
Developed to meet the requirements of Home Office guidelines, the system ensures that the recorded video can only be viewed by authorised personnel, and there is an audit trail associated with any redistributed recorded video. The system has also attracted a lot of interest from other potential users such as parking agencies, customs and excise, and local authority ASBO teams.
