Case Studies - NORD Centre, Aberdeen Harbour
When Aberdeen Harbour Board recently acquired the Nord Centre within the Harbour vicinity, they approached Scottish Communications to take over the annual CCTV maintenance for the system.
Liam Mowat, Engineering Manager, for Scottish Communications commented that the overriding factor was “we have successfully maintained and supported Aberdeen Harbour’s main security system for over 10 years, assisting the client through various upgrades, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the market”.
After the first maintenance visit and subsequent support callouts it was apparent that the current system was at the end of its natural life span, and a proactive approach was taken by Scottish Communications to recommend replacing this system with a new “fit for purpose” system.
Due to the nature of the site and the current cabling limitations, Scottish Communications designed and specified a total “Pelco solution” which was presented to Norman Howitt, M and E Manager for the Harbour Board. Subsequent to this being accepted the system was upgraded in December of 2009.
Norman Howitt commented “the system is already proving its worth, providing not only vastly improved recorded images but also because we utilised the Pelco Esprit cameras we now have full 360 degree pan facility, significantly faster tracking ability and the superior night time viewing due to the low light level capabilities of the cameras.
